Good music for a Good World!
Hello everyone. With all the crazy events going on right now, from Syria to Greece to our own circus show, ahem…election… coming up, I wanted to try to spread a little love around.
For the month of February, all the profits from online sales of my CD “Well” will be donated to the charity of your choice. Get some good tunes and spread some love out there.
On Martin Luther King Day I got inspired. MLK was amazing in so many ways, but the thing that struck me this year was hearing clips of him speaking on the radio. He talked about racists and how he knew most of them were not bad people per se, but products of their environment, and even more amazingly – he described them as spiritually impoverished, and felt sorry for them even, carrying around that kind of hate. Amazing…part of his mission was the alleviate the spiritual suffering of the very people who oppressed and hated him and his people. May we all be that big someday.
In that spirit, get yourself or your peeps some music on my website, beauborrero.com and let me know which of the following charities you would like to donate the profits to:
The King Center – furthering the legacy of MLK. http://www.thekingcenter.org/
Nuclear Security Project – This is one of those rare things that give me real, serious hope for the world. This is a group founded by Henry Kissinger, Sam Nunn, George Shultz, and William Perry. Their mission is the complete elimination of Nuclear Weapons from planet Earth. I am not making this up. These guys are not exactly, um…stoner peaceniks, and the idea that they would come together, after all they have seen and done, to completely eliminate nuclear weapons forever gives me chills…in a good way. http://www.nuclearsecurityproject.org/home
World Society for the Protection of Animals – Protecting those who cannot protect themselves from the cruelty of humankind. http://www.wspa-international.org/
Planned Parenthood – Abortion may be controversial, but the health of poor women is not. http://www.plannedparenthood.org/
Prevent Child Abuse America – The late, great philosopher and therapist Alice Miller goes so far as to say that this is where war and violence begin, and the research bears this out: countries with stronger child protection laws have less violent crime and wage less war than countries that accept child abuse as “normal.” For an empirical and obvious example compare Scandinavia to sub-Saharan Africa.

Ok, so I am going to try and do a much better job in the news department, especially as so much interesting stuff is happening!
First off I have moved out to New York City (ok, Jersey…) for at least a few months to be part of the #Occupy Wall Street movement. I was there on the night they tore it down, and it was unnecessarily violent. I want to like cops, but I think back to high school, and ya know, all the guys who used to like to get drunk and beat people up all grew up to be cops. Hmmmm… A great article about this here: http://myoccupylaarrest.
Moving on to more pleasant subjects than dirty, cold, mal-nourished hippes getting pounded by public servants in taxpayer financed riot gear…I wrote a song about #Occupy, and have been singing it in the city a lot at different occupy events. A film crew caught me and a random accordion player at #Occupy Broadway in times square and it came out pretty good… http://youtu.be/yYMY_o-ZPcQ
Been working on some new tunes and gearing up for a Northeast winter if it ever comes. Keep in touch with me and see you at the shows…

Well, well, well…finally! What a haul it has been. What began with some tears and guitar strummings 4 years ago in New Jersey apartment has at long last become a finished CD of ten songs. There will be more to come – on the site, on the road, and in the studio. Thanks for checking it out, and I hope you enjoy…
